Ive noticed when sat in the car parked up the car has an intermittent judder / slight movement forward while the engine is ticking over.

What could this be? I thought maybe the clutch but this is when the car is just ticking over in neutral.

Or is this normal?

It isnt like a massive jolt forward but when you are sitting there u can feel it like a vibration / movement in the seat u can feel it.

Similar problem experienced

I have a 2010 2.0TFSI 211PS multitronic with noticeable lumpy vibration felt - mainly through the seat and centre console - when stationary at start and even after a drive when stationary. I would dscribe it as a constant vibration with periodic twitches. The car has been back to the dealer. I am informed Audi is aware of the issue but regard it as a characteristic of the car. I have driven many A5s and never experienced this. However I did tried a similar specification car (2.0 TFSI 211PS Multitronic) at the dealership and it did demonstrate the same symptoms. I like the car but find this twitchy vibration very annoying. I recently again asked the dealership if they had received a fix for this problem. They said the manufacturers were aware of the issue regard it as a characteristic and are not looking for a fix. I do not see it as a characterisic because it is not across the range and it (now) does not appear to be restricted to a partcular engin (which I was beginning to think). Anyone any ideas for next move ?

It must just be something the TSFI engines do mate, the 1.8 and 2.0 are practically the same engine (just the 2.0 has a bigger bore) so im guessing there is something in this engine range that makes the car do it. As i have been in a A3 with a FSI engine and that did the same twitch

That's interesting. It's more wide spread than I thought. I am surprised there are not more comments on the forum because it is odd. I guess you can't argue that it's not a characteristic but its not a charaxcteritic of the whole A5 range and in my mind its an unintentional detrimental characteristic - presumably due to some type of design fault - and should be corrected by the manufacturer.

I have experienced the same problem with my A5. At first, my local Audi service department told me to try switching gas stations (filling up at a 'premium tier' gas station), this did not work at all.

Took it to the Audi service center and they found that the problem was being caused by a broken engine mount. They replaced the mount, and problem fixed!

intermittent judder when parked up

LDouble3, any luck with resolving the judder ? I mentioned both the coil pack and the engine mounts to my Dealership but they did not think it was either of these (though they did acknowledge engin mounts had been a problem in the past). Instead the Factory advised my Dealership to take out the flywheel turn it 180 degrees and then replace it. This did not resolve the problem.... I really did not think I was signing up for this hassle when a brought a new Audi !

intermittent judder when parked up

My car is booked into the dealership this week. I did see somewhere on the forum that there is a fix for a lumpy idle (TSB 2024812/4: software update / repalce pressure regulating valve/replace front crank seal located behind damper). Although the judder is a little more than the normal lumpy idle I have given the details of this fix to the dealership so fingers crossed.
